Dance

This dissertation has risen from the emerging utilisation of virtual reality (VR) technology within the dance field. In contrast with most examined projects, this research focuses on the dancer's experience within a performance transmitted in VR. This dissertation introduces new definitions and questions for further exploration within the rising discipline through interlacing academic research and interviews. Rather than viewing VR as a technological tool, this dissertation takes a deeper dive into the creative potential of VR to derestrict interpretation and development. Dancers' insights shed light on their familiar experience of dancing and working with technology and suggest implementation suggestions to mitigate the gap between the physical and the virtual practice. Consequently, this research provides vital information for consideration when creating or dancing in VR, focusing on the performer's perspective in the form of a terminology outline. Moreover, an empirical exploration is to be executed to further examine the shaping field.
